Fragrance Lake in January
A couple of weeks ago, our friends, Dana and Rich, invited us for a hike up to Fragrance Lake. It's still a bit surreal to be able to hike around in January and actually get warm enough to strip down to only a long sleeve shirt and a vest for half the hike, but I'm not complaining. The hike was as pretty as ever and has sort of become our go-to hike in Bellingham when we can't decide where else to go. We hadn't been up there for several months though, and it was nice to see it in the winter, if you can call the 50's winter. And, we had actually never done this hike with Dana and Rich, so it was nice to have their company. Merri and True were happy to be able to spend some time with Nia, too, as they have become fast friends. Here are some pics:

Above: There was a volunteer work party restoring parts of the trail. It's so easy to forget how much work people put into preserving our parks. It was nice to be able to thank some of the folks who were volunteering that day.
