Late August or early September, thereabouts, I went to Seattle to spend a weekend with Brad and Jessica. Jessica and I went to the locks to see the salmon spawn, which was a new event for me. It was only the beginning of their run, but there were still a fair amount of fish to see through the underground viewing area Seattle provides for locals and tourists alike. Apparently, during peak spawning times, it's just solid fish through the viewing windows, and you can see plenty jumping if you're watching from above the locks.
It's neat enough just watching the locks operate. Here's a crabbin' boat waitin' to pass through:
Jessica took a sweet video of me operating a miniature version of the locks, a tutorial really. Unfortunately, it isn't uploading, despite numerous attempts. I will try again in the future, so check back.
That evening, Brad and Jessica had a "Woo Girl Night" planned. I didn't bring my woo outfit, but they let me go along anyway. Thanks, Jessica! :) And, of course, where else would we go on Woo Night than Seattle's best gay bars? Brad and I looked like a couple of yackubuttskis trying to dance, but no matter.
The next morning, Mike was going to drive down so that we could all go hike Mount Pilchuck, but it ended up thunder storming. After deeming it unsafe and unpleasant to hike, Brad and Jessica drove me back to B'ham (I had taken the bus down to Seattle), and we spent some family time watching some warrior show online that Mike and Brad really got into. We'll have to see Mount Pilchuck next summer.
I don't know about the Gay bars but I wouldn't mind checking out the locks this Spring

Yackubuttskis! Now where on earth did that come from?
