Kindred Spirits Part II: The Brew Tour

If you haven't already read the previous post, you should.

Last spring, when Carly visited, Mike had this brilliant idea to take a west coast brewery tour. We went down to The Public Market, a grocery store where one can purchase individual bottles of 12 oz. beer. We selected a variety of brews from California, Oregon, Washington, and Alaska. We divided each bottle and had our own tasting in the comfort of our living room. This experience was so charming that we've since recreated it for other friends who've visited; Lara was no exception. This time, we bumped it up a notch, as we utilized Google Earth to map our tour as we progressed. We also added in Hawaii, and we took a detour over to Colorado. You can click on the image of the map below to make it larger and see the labels of "where we went." This also was the first time we photo documented our tour, which I think was worth it...

DAY 1 of 2:

Lagunitas Brewery - Petaluma, California
getting started -- a bit hesitant as to how this photo documentation would take off

Sierra Nevada - Chico, California
Warming Up

Great Divide Brewing Company - Denver, Colorado
There we go! We're in it now.

New Belgium Brewery - Fort Collins, Colorado

Also at New Belgium Brewery -- We really like their beer.

Full Sail Brewery - Bend, Oregon

Deschutes Brewery- Bend, Oregon
This is their summer ale, and it's called Twilight. Hence, the vampire faces.

Rogue Ales - Newport, Oregon

DAY 2 of 2:
Hmmm... this stop of the tour got lost somehow. Maybe Mike will remember where we were and edit this.

Fish Tail - Olympia, Washington

Pike Brewery - Seattle, Washington
This beer was called "Naughty Nellie" -- Mike was Nellie.

Scuttlebutt - Everett, Washington

Alaskan Brewing Company - Juneau, Alaska

Kona Brewing Company - Kailua Kona, Hawaii
