Tulip Festival

Several weeks ago, we went car camping at Washington Park. It's just a little park in Anacortes, but it turned out to be a pretty neat place. I imagine during the busy weeks of summer, it wouldn't be a place to go for privacy, as the camp sites were close together and were geared more towards the camper/motor home crowd. Luckily, we went early enough in the season to avoid that.

Rich and Dana met us there, and the dogs hung out and dug holes while the people roasted marshmallows over the fire. In the morning, we hiked around the park and found some spots with beautiful views that would have been epic on a clear day, as, even through the fog, we could see hints of the Olympic Mountains. After exploring the park, we drove into town where we got pizza and donuts.

Rich and Dana headed back to B'ham, and Mike and I made our way to the tulip fields. This year, Skagit County (our very own Whatcom County's neighbor to the south) was home to the 2010 World Tulip Summit. In short, the area has some impressive tulip fields. If you look at the map below, you'll see a town called La Conner and another called Mount Vernon. The fields span the area between.

Being that tulips are my favorite flower, I was pretty content seeing so many at once. Believe it or not, I spent a long time narrowing down the photos we took to just the ones below. We took a lot, to say the least, and I realize that you may not all share my appreciation for tulips. So, I tried, I really tried, to show you only a "few." For what it's worth, there are a couple of gadget photos, too, for the men-folks. Enjoy:

This one deserves a title: Real Men Wear Pink
