Cedar Lake

One of the gifts I got Mike for his birthday is a guide book called Hiking Whatcom County. It has opened some new doors for us and will open many, many more once some more snow melts off that big ol' mountain/volcano we live by. For now, we were happy to discover Cedar Lake. The trail we took to get there is actually for Pine Lake and Cedar Lake, but, due to sprinkling and what looked like potential for some real rain, we only hiked around Cedar. It was a nice hike - about 5 miles out-and-back with 1,500 feet of elevation gain - one of those hikes that can be done quickly, but also makes a person feel alive, ya know? The trail was beautiful, too. It was very Pac NW in that all of the trees were covered in moss, which always hits my heart just right. There were lots of little streams and an almost constant sound of running water - bad if you have to pee... but I didn't. Anyways, here are some pics of this lovely day hike. I'm sure you'll hear/see about it many more times over the years, 'cause, like I said, it was a nice hike. We liked it quite a lot.

You hike up this trail for a couple miles...

Until you get to this lake...

You hike around the lake, eat a snack, and then hike back down.
