Valentine's Day Weekend

I had a four-day weekend over Valentine's Day, giving me lots of time to catch up on a little adventure and a lot of R and R.

On Friday, I had the girls all to myself while Mike was at work. The three of us ladies went on a date to sniff around by the bay. The pooches were feeling quite romantic, as you can see from the photo below:

We went to a park we'd never been to before, and since it's near the airport, several planes flew in overhead. The one pictured below was the biggest, and when it thundered above us, M & T jumped, and I grabbed the camera. This photo was taken without any zoom. Yeah, we were that close!

On Saturday, we headed south to the Emerald City. An old friend of ours, Corey, was in from Boston visiting a few of his relatives. We met up with ol' Dr. Stocco (Corey) by the sound (Puget, that is). We caught up a bit, got to meet his hilarious father - "Brad the Dad," and made sure to snap a pic before we parted ways. Corey, I hope you e-mail me the photos you have, because I can't say this is my best angle.

Even when the visits are short, it's always nice to see old friends. Corey, we're glad you are well and hope to see you if you do make it back out in August.

Unfortunately, Brother Brad (as opposed to the aforementioned Brad the Dad) and Sister Jessica were booked for the afternoon. So, Mike and I took to exploring some things we hadn't made the time to see yet in Seattle. I entertained myself with several trips through this urban waterfall (below) before we headed to the Seattle Art Museum. Though it was a quick fix, the waterfall was a hoot, and I had plenty of time to dry in the hour and a half or two we spent at the art museum.

The art museum was very cool. Mike and I both took interest in the Native American art, as it's interesting to see the artistic differences between tribes of the Midwest and the West Coast. The masks are always one of my favorites, regardless of region.

Though we didn't get to on this day, relatively soon, we'd like to visit the Seattle Aquarium. We went there before we moved out here, and we've been eager to go back ever since, as it was one of our favorite parts of our trip. Valentine's Day was not the day to go, however, as the line was lonnnnng. I guess nothing says "I love you" like a sea urchin. Mom and Grandma, you'll be out here before we all know it. I think both the aquarium and the zoo would be right up your ally, if you're interested.

It was hard to believe I still had two days left of my weekend after such a fun Friday and Saturday. I mostly took it easy. On Sunday night, Mike and I had a low-key Valentine's celebration of our own. Mike cooked up some salmon, and we watched the tube. It was nice to put our feet up. I probably finished off the night with some ice-cream. That's nothing unique to Valentine's Day, however, but it sure does make any night better. Coffee almond fudge, Baby!

Ooof, what a good weekend.
