Mini-Moon

We intend to take a "real" honeymoon abroad in the winter (like sometime between January and March-ish?). Autumn is gorgeous here and, therefore, not a time we want to leave the Pacific NW. Winter, on the other hand, is just gray and, therefore, a great time to travel! Besides, we need to save up some scrilla after this whole wedding thing. ;)

Soooo.... because there was still due cause for celebration, Mike, the pooches, Carly, and I headed out to Orcas Island for a lovely mini-moon. Yes, that's right; Carly came with. She was a delightful travel companion, and, actually, I'd suggest you book her for your next mini-moon.

After some near unbelievable timing on our part, we caught a ferry. This was Carly's first time on a ferry, and, being that this was a mini-moon, I'm glad we could be Carly's first something.

We hiked a nice 6.3 mile loop up to and back down from Mt. Constitution, the highest point in The San Juan Islands. It was pretty cloudy, but we were still able to see Mt. Baker peeking out over the clouds guarding our sweet Bellingham.

After our hike, we headed into town for dinner and then returned to Moran State Park to set up camp and relax with some wine, s'mores, a campfire, and much laughter.

This one is a video... push play..

Before heading back to the mainland, we enjoyed coffee and crepes in Eastsound.

Thanks, Carly. We look forward to joining you on your mini-moon. Muah!
