Independence Day - God, Bless Uh-Murica.

On the fourth of July, Mike's bosses hosted a party on the rooftop of their building. This was a treat, as nearly every year of my life I've had to either fight viscous crowds and stake claim to a picnic-blanket-sized plot of land in an over-crowded park or settle for some lesser vantage point that made it seem like the firework show was in a neighboring county. This year, there was no settling, and I'd say I had one of the best seats in Bellingham- a rooftop with complimentary food and drinks, live guitar, and view worth fighting for, but without having to. Thanks, J & J.

Some of the most fun was suspected to be had after the firework show when Amy, Milo, and I planned to get a sparkler party started. Take note of the word planned...

Fortunately, we don't give up easy. Amy and I hiked a picnic down to the beach a few days later and managed to get the sparklers working there. Where there's a will, there's a way. Where there's a larger flame, there is also a way. That's a sparkler we're holding, and it's sparking.
