T took this stunning photo of Whatcom Falls, located within Whatcom Park, located directly in the center of Bellingham. We drove there yesterday to explore the area and hike around. It's a pretty nice little park, actually. It's on the Interurban, which if I haven't explained, is basically a series of trails that used to be old train lines running North/South for several miles. A person could pretty much walk the distance of town on this trail. Anyway, the park follows Whatcom Creek, which makes a number of winds in a short stretch of time. At some point, the creek runs between two huge boulders. You can see in the photo below, there's a kid climbing downward in the upper left-hand part of the picture. This is where all the kids jump off in to the pool of water below.

When we walked around that side of the pool, we noticed that the creek turns really quickly again around another huge boulder. The humorous part about it is that someone carved a face into the side of this rock. They may or may not have been swilling oat sodas at the time. Check it out:

Anyway, it's a great park in the middle of the city. A lot of high school students apparently hang/make out here, but during the day, it's a nice place to take the dogs and get a bit of a hike in. Next time I'll get some video of T cliff-jumping.
