Never Disappointed

We are never disappointed when Jon, Jason, and Jesse come to town.  Two years since their last visit, and, of course, we've all changed.  Mike and I bought this house.  Jon and Jason became uncles.  Jesse's beard got even bigger  ... Changes.  But, our smiles are the same.  We laugh the same way together.  Two years blur so quickly with one shared smile between friends.

These gents, as a band, were wrapping up a Canadian tour alongside Dan Mangan.  We caught one of their final shows in Vancouver at an absolutely stunning theatre called The Orpheum. After half a decade of friendship and just as long watching these guys play small shows in the Midwestern bar stage scene, it warmed my heart to see a crowd of nearly 3,000 people oooh-ing and aahh-ing at the delight of The Daredevil Christopher Wright.  They've worked hard for this.  They deserved it.

After bidding adieu to Canada, J, J, and J stuck around in B'ham for a few days.  We relaxed and simply hung-out, for the most part.  After weeks on the road, tourist activities just didn't find their place on the itinerary. We stayed in for dinner and ate like a family.  We did venture out for wassail at the local mead bar.  We foraged for apples and pressed them one afternoon. We played a lot of Nintendo Wii.  Or, rather, Jesse and Jason played a lot of Wii.  Jesse throws a mean uppercut. Jason beat me at darts.  We celebrated simply being together.

Guys, we missed you as soon as you left. Your miis always have a home on our Nintendo, and, next time, there's a good chance there'll be a real bed in that spare room for you to fight over.
