Hannegan Pass and an Attempt at Copper Ridge

Woof. We're behind. But I'm guessing you're used to that. So, I'll carry on...

In August, we did a backpacking trip to Hannegan Pass. We intended to go further and venture up to what's known as Copper Ridge, which is supposed to have some wicked views. Unfortunately, after our first night, we got flushed out. The journey was still fun, though, and now we know a good chunk of the trail for next year.

On our way to Hannegan Camp...

At Hannegan Camp...

Setting out for a rainy hike on day 2...

Upon setting off in the morning, it was just sprinkling. I thought it would vary between sprinkles and clouds as Washington often does, but I was wrong. Shortly after we had made it over the pass, the precipitation had increased to a true rain. Then, it varied between raining and pouring the entire day. Of course, with the rain came fog, and we had to say goodbye to our chance for stunning views atop Copper Ridge. So, we turned around and decided to camp a second night at Hannegan Camp.

...But... while sitting in the tent, we decided we were both wet and cold and that sitting in the tent for another 12 hours or so before heading out the next morning wouldn't be a ton of fun. So, we hiked the rest of the way out and headed to The Northfork for some pizza and good brew.

All in all, the trip was still well worth it.
