Friday night: Appliance Derby and Art Walk
Saturday: North Cascade Institute
Sunday-Monday: Lara
We'll do this chronologically and with separate posts. There's a lot to blog about. So...
Post 1: Friday
On the first Friday of every month, downtown Bellingham hosts an art walk. In conjunction with June's art walk, there was an "appliance derby" -- basically, a man-powered race between pimped up appliances on wheels. There were four contestants...
a fridge...
...a washing machine...
...another washing machine...
...and a... well, I'm not really sure what this was.
Maybe one of the dads can share some wisdom with the rest of us. :)

Each "appliance" was timed on an individual run of the course, during which each contestant had to weave in and out of a row of traffic cones. Then, all four contestants raced at once, which resulted in a crash. Luckily, no one was hurt.
You know, I can't say I honestly know who won. I am pretty sure, though, that it was the washing machine featured in the third photo above. He had a pretty good run. Check out this video to see for yourself:
I should add a little shout out here -- Dad, I know you could have won this derby. Get your welding iron nice and hot for next year! :) Oh, and if it helps motivate you, there's a brewery at the bottom of the hill.
I definetly would hook up with an air conditioner. That way I would have the COOLEST ride.
ReplyDeleteHa ha. Nice, Dad.
